Last Thursday: Right on time! John, the proud Product Owner of the TelCo team, walks into the room for his bi-weekly meeting with William and Jenna, the marketing managers of his division. These meetings are crucial for John to grasp the management’s expectations and long-term plans, enabling him to set clear priorities. He also sees it as an opportunity to nurture his relationship with these stakeholders.
As they take their seats, John begins outlining the agenda and goals for this meeting. Jenna interjects, “John, I’d like to revisit what I mentioned last week about all those sheets and stickies plastered around the building nowadays. Personally, I find it excessive, but if it helps you, I’m okay with it… However, what really bothers me is having to come down to the second floor every time I want to check the progress of production”
John pauses for a moment before responding, “Um, yes, you’re right. That’s expected. As a team, we value transparency, allowing stakeholders like you to easily see what we’re working on and how far along we are in delivering our sprint goals. Isn’t that something you’d want too?”
Jenna furrows her brow and replies, “Yes, of course, I want to track progress, but I don’t have the time to visit each team’s walls constantly. Plus, don’t you input everything into JIRA? Why…
